'Enrich The Time To Come’

"O, now let Elizabeth,
The true succeeders of each royal house,
By God’s fair ordinance conjoin together,
And let their heirs, God, if thy will be so.
Enrich the time to come with smooth-faced peace,
with smiling plenty and fair prosperous days!"

Thought to be the source of the School motto introduced by Headmaster, Mr Rawlings and staff.   With thanks to Colin Prower.

welcome

This new website (www.sheneoldboys.co uk) is the second revision of the original (www.myweb.ecomplanet.com/OLRO2666/) built by John Olrog (1947-52) and edited by David Richardson (1948-53). The first revision was (www.shenegrammarschool.mysite101.net)

It is now managed by myself, Ron Piper (1956-61). repiper@hotmail.com

I hope to continue to research the whereabouts of Old Boys at Sheen and am particularly keen to locate those from intakes from the 1960s until the School’s closure. The current database lists at least 2000 names although a lot of these pupils are yet to be found.

If you are an Old Boy and would like to see the list or ask a question about a particular pupil, contact me and I will try to help.

New information is welcome so if you have details or ideas on the whereabouts of an Old Boy please pass it on and I will attempt to follow it up. A name will not be added to the list without express permission.

Richmond Local Studies Centre at the Old Town Hall has a rich treasure trove of the School’s memorabilia from the opening of East Sheen Grammar School and subsequently.

It is hoped that this site will enable Shene Old Boys to keep in touch around the world. It is known that they are as far afield as Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Dubai, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Scotland, Spain, USA, Wales, Zaire and Zambia.

Please be encouraged to write to me with memories of your schooldays and tell where they were to lead you. Also tell me the dates when you were at the School to ensure that you are located correctly. I am keen to keep Old Boys in touch and particularly want to know of those who are unwell to enable us to offer support.

If you want to send photos please E-mail them in jpg format. If you don’t have a scanner, e-mail me for my address and post the original photos to me. They will be returned after placing them on the website.

Regards,

Ron Piper
